EPLA Image.png

audience

Women and families who have suffered a miscarriage.

purpose

Show them that they are not alone and that they are allowed to talk about miscarriage and grieve with others.

context

Many women feel that they cannot talk about miscarriage or grieve their loss publicly.

I worked with a team to create this website prototype for the Early Pregnancy Loss Association (EPLA). My team gathered information from the EPLA's founder and used it to write and design this prototype. We then user tested and revised it according to the users' comments. After we submitted the prototype to the EPLA, they published a site largely based on the content we created. You can view both the prototype and the live website by clicking the buttons below.

Capstone Image.png

audience

High school students who are considering a major in communication but don't know which program they want.

purpose

Explain the differences between each program and advertise the unique qualities that students of the programs love most.

context

Prospective students often think that all majors in the communication department essentially teach the same skills.

For my capstone course, I served as the managing editor of my class's team. Our team researched, wrote, designed, and edited a publication about the Communication department. After our first draft, we user tested and revised the document. Throughout the process, I worked heavily with the design and also set deadlines, coordinated with writers, and edited the content and layout.

Channels Image.png

audience

Professors and students conducting research.

purpose

Effectively display undergraduate research articles.

context

Cedarville has several publications, and Channels needed to match university standards while still portraying a unique feel.

As managing editor for Channels (Cedarville's undergraduate research journal), I helped launch the journal and create the materials necessary for the first publication. During that process, I designed this website in Photoshop for the online publication.

Christmas Dinner Flyer Image.png

audience

All women who attend  Upper Room Worship Center.

purpose

Advertise this women's ministry event and display event details.

context

This was a formal event, and the women's ministry asked for a flyer that would express the correct tone.

I designed this flyer using Photoshop and InDesign. Using Photoshop, I created the snow globe by compositing images of trees, snow, candy canes, wood, and bubbles. I then completed the format in InDesign.
